The AI Kompass turns 75 funding programmes into the fields that decide if one fits

The AI Kompass table: the first three funding programmes readable in full, with the rest blurred below them.

75 funding programmes, each with the fields that decide if it is worth your afternoon.

The AI Kompass holds 75 live funding programmes for NRW, Germany and the EU, out of 76 registered, the other one superseded and kept out of view. Every row carries 30 columns, and the ones that actually decide whether a programme fits sit up front: who can apply, whether you need your own money in already, the amount, the deadline. Seven type tabs sort them, Grant, Loan, Mixed, Stipend, Equity, Prize, so a creator can jump straight to the kind of funding that matches how they work. A column called Further info folds in everything the funder states that did not earn a column of its own, so nothing useful gets left out.

Open the page signed out and the first three rows are real: sortable, filterable, with the same column picker and hover detail a member gets. The rest sit blurred until you register, so the table proves itself before anyone commits to anything. One lesson from building this: the sorting, the filters and the column picker, the things a reader actually touches, are what earn trust in a table.

Own financing and Amount only carry a number when the funder states one, never computed from another field, because a maximum funding rate and an own-financing share answer different questions. Above the table sits a plain disclosure, AI-assisted extraction, Article 50 of the EU AI Act, and every row links to its Source URL, the tier it came from, the date it was checked, and how confident the row is.

The AI Kompass and the AI Graph are built to work together. The Graph maps what a person can do and at what level. The Kompass holds the fields that decide whether a funding programme fits that person. Matching the two automatically is not built yet. That is where this goes next: a graph that points straight at the programmes it actually qualifies for.
