Why this exists14 June 2026

Everyone left my sessions able to do it, and went back to working alone

The same pattern, twenty times in a row.

I teach AI workflows across NRW, as Rapid Stories AI and at the Mediengründerzentrum NRW. Media founders, studios, creative teams, usually a full production chain across five tools in one day. The sessions work. People leave able to do things they could not do that morning. Then they go back to their desk and do it alone.

That is the part nobody was solving, and after about the twentieth session it stopped looking like a coincidence and started looking like the actual problem. This region has no shortage of events, tools, news or vision statements. What it has no structure for is the boring part. Finding the right people to build with. Forming a team you trust. Turning an experiment into a project someone will pay for.

There is a version of this that fails immediately: another meetup, another directory, another conference. I have been to plenty. They produce a good evening and nothing on Monday. So the first decisions were about what this is not. It could not be a personal project either. It had to be its own thing, with its own name and its own site, and room for other people to own a part of it. Anything less and it stays one person talking.

On 14 June I opened an empty folder. I am not a developer and cannot write a line of code, which until recently would have ended the conversation. With Claude Code it did not. Next.js, a database in Frankfurt so the data stays in the EU, and a list of everything I could verify myself.

The rest of the day was about what to leave out. Dark mode only, because people open this between jobs and not to admire it. Three colours: black, red, white. And no stock photos, which was harder than it sounds and left the pages looking empty for weeks. A photo of "a conference" tells you nothing.

By the end of the day there were 88 tutorials in the library, a working database, and a site that looked rough. It was live, and everything on it was true.

The short version

  • Not a meetup, not a directory, not a conference. Decided before any code
  • Built with Claude Code by someone who does not write code
  • Next.js with a Supabase database in Frankfurt, so the data stays in the EU
  • Dark mode only, three colours, and no stock imagery
